What Does Past Life Regression Feel Like?

Most people are surprised by how ordinary it feels. You're not asleep, you're not 'put under', and you don't lose awareness. The closest comparison is that drifty state just before you fall asleep - relaxed, unhurried, slightly dreamlike, but still you.

From there, your subconscious begins to offer up information. For some people it's vivid, almost cinematic imagery. For others it's more like sensing - a quiet knowing about a place, a body, a time. For others still, it's mostly feeling, with very little visual content. All of these are normal.

If you're not sure what to expect, the what to expect in your online session page walks through the full flow.

What Past Life Regression Actually Feels Like

Before the regression begins

We start with a quiet conversation. I want to know what's drawing you to this work, what you're hoping to explore, and any concerns you have. If anything feels uncomfortable, we adjust. There's no pressure to be ready in any particular way.

Then I guide you into a relaxed state through gentle breathing and visualisation. This usually takes 10 to 15 minutes. You stay awake. You can hear me. You can move if you want. It's a softer state than your usual waking awareness, but you don't lose yourself in it.

What you might experience

There's no single right experience. Here are some things people commonly notice:

  • Visual imagery, sometimes vivid and sometimes fragmentary
  • A felt sense of being in another place or time
  • Sensing a body that feels different from your own
  • Strong emotions that arrive without an obvious trigger
  • A quiet 'knowing' about names, places, or events
  • Sensations of warmth, lightness, or being held

Some people experience all of these. Some experience just one or two. Both are perfectly normal.

What it doesn't feel like

It doesn't feel like being unconscious. You won't black out. You won't lose track of time entirely. You won't say or do things you don't want to. Your conscious mind stays present the whole time, watching gently from the edge.

It also doesn't feel like being 'made' to see things. I don't suggest content. I ask open questions and let your subconscious lead. If you're worried about being influenced, the do I stay in control during hypnosis? page may reassure you.

How it usually feels afterwards

Most clients describe feeling calm, slightly tired, and quietly thoughtful afterwards. There's often a sense of having processed something, even if you can't quite say what. Some people feel emotional. Some feel lighter. A few feel nothing immediately and notice shifts over the days that follow.

These sessions are a complementary wellness practice, not medical or psychological treatment. If any session brings up material that feels heavier than expected, please also speak to your GP or a qualified clinician.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some people do. Most people experience something subtler - fragments, feelings, knowings, brief images. Vivid cinematic experiences are real but not universal, and the work is just as valuable without them.

It's normal to feel deeply relaxed. Sleepiness can sometimes be the body protecting you from going somewhere it isn't ready for. We can pause, adjust, and try a gentler approach. There's no rush.

Some clients do feel emotional, especially if the regression touches on something tender. I work in a gentle way via rebuilding safety and self-trust, and we never push you into anything that feels unsafe. You stay in charge of pace throughout.

The regression part of a session typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes, with conversation before and after. The full session is usually 90 to 120 minutes. The how many sessions will I need? page covers what to expect over time.

Yes. Many people who say they 'can't visualise' have rich experiences in regression - they just receive information differently. Through feelings, knowings, sensations, or words. Visualisation is not a requirement.
